No two partners are the same, so each 529 plan deserves a carefully researched brand identity. We believe that every state 529 plan deserves a customized brand, from overall look and feel, to the website, to a full suite of marketing materials. Upromise Investments considers each client individually, conducting extensive research and follow-up analysis to determine the marketing strategies and communication methods that will work most effectively for each plan.
The marketing team partners with a 529 plan board or "authority," to develop a customized approach, including websites completely tailored to their plans, reflecting the style, goals, and messaging for the audience they service.

Branding: Upromise Investments' marketing team creates a customized brand, website, and suite of marketing materials for each client, with images that reflect the identity of the state, making each piece a recognizable aspect of a plan's brand image. No single participant base is the same, and neither is its 529 plan.
Targeted campaigns: Whether the occasion is "back to school" or "529 College Savings Day," we create multi-media campaigns throughout the year to encourage new enrollments and additional contributions.
Websites/online marketing: A fully functional website is designed and implemented for each plan, reflecting its unique brand. Seasonal campaigns are highlighted through timely updates, keeping the site current.
Events: We work closely with our state partners to establish a visible, engaging presence at community and industry events, such as state fairs and local investment seminars.
Grassroots: Grassroots marketing goes right to the community for one of the most effective ways to extend the reach of a 529 plan to underserved populations. Examples include organizing Walk Into My Future events, where kids get pledges to fund their own 529 savings accounts to College Savings Champions, which encourages PTO/PTA members to spread the word about 529 College Savings Plans. Other events include "529 Zoo Day," celebrating 529 College Savings Day at the Dakota Zoo in Bismarck, ND and the Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot, ND.
Matching grants: We have worked with various partners to develop, promote, and monitor matching grant and related outreach programs. This includes determining business requirements and developing the application/enrollment process, as well as providing confirmations and statements.
Results: Our analytics department tracks and reports on all campaign-generated activity. Results are used for recommendations for future marketing strategies. In addition, all websites are built with an extensive measurement capability that enables clients to view regular reports of web activity.
